Mosman Church of England Preparatory School is committed to promoting and supporting changes in the way our children live their lives, so they adopt a healthy lifestyle. Learning in Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) provides the opportunity nurture such change.
The Physical Education Programme includes skill development in general games and sport, dance, gymnastics and aquatics. The boys are provided with a balanced physical education programme, with an emphasis on the following areas:
Motor skills, individual fitness, self-esteem, well-being and social responsibility. The ability to make informed health and lifestyle decisions, and the development of positive relationships and teamwork are also key areas of focus.
Specific sports include: softball, sphairee, badminton, tennis, volleyball, hockey, gymnastics, sailing, BMX bike riding, golf and croquet.
As well as our Outdoor Education Centre at Terrey Hills with sporting fields, low ropes obstacle course and BMX facilities, our School has a large hall, undercroft, basketball court and a large soft-fall play area.
Personal Development and Health are taught in all the five Key Learning Areas. Mosman Prep recognises that sport is an essential component of school life. All Years 3 to 6 boys compete in sport. The School participates in the NSW Independent Primary Schools Heads Association (IPSHA) Sporting Programme.
In Years 3 to 6, there is an afternoon and Saturday morning sports programme. Every boy is involved in sport at a suitable level. In Terms 1 and 4, boys can participate in basketball, cricket, tee ball and softball. In Terms 2 and 3, boys can participate in rugby and soccer. Enjoyment of sport, striving for excellence and sportsmanship are emphasised at all times.
Throughout each year, boys may participate in Interschool athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals, organised by schools within the IPSHA and Quad sporting organisations. In swimming, cross country and athletics, Mosman Prep holds its own carnivals annually for both Junior and Senior Primary boys. House competitions in various sports and games are held throughout the year.
